D4, D5, D6 REACh restrictions published
June 2024 - Publication of Regulation (EU) 2024/1328 on D4, D5 and D6.
The Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1328 of 16 May 2024 on Cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), Cyclopentasiloxane (D5) and Cyclohexasiloxane (D6) has been published. It will enter into force on June 6th, 2024. Regulation amends the Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation and is applicable to cosmetics. It implements the following restrictions (new restrictions in bold):
Cyclotetrasiloxane (D4)

In wash-off products: Already forbidden in the cosmetic products. Only technically unavoidable traces are tolerated (max 0.1%) -
In leave-on products: Already forbidden in the cosmetic products. Only technically unavoidable traces are tolerated (max 0.1%)
Cyclopentasiloxane (D5)
-
In wash-off products: already restricted at max 0.1% -
In leave-on products: max 0.1% from June 6th, 2027
Cyclohexasiloxane (D6)
-
In wash-off products: max 0.1% from June 6th 2026 -
In leave-on products: max 0.1% from June 6th, 2027
These deadlines apply to the placing on the market of products.
