About the position (Manage – Belgium, St Malo – France, Toulouse – France)

In the EU, the UK, and other regions, the cosmetic legislation imposes very strict requirements in terms of safety assessment. Safety assessors carry responsibilities that demand a high level of professional conduct and sufficient seniority. BIORIUS is looking for a senior cosmetic products safety assessor.

The selected candidate would be in charge of evaluating clients’ cosmetic products and, based on many sources of information, review the product formulae, prepare Cosmetic Product Safety Reports, draw conclusions on the safety and the regulatory compliance of products, and issue recommendations with regard to claims substantiation and possible reformulations.

Safety assessment and regulatory evaluation are complicated tasks, requiring a special ability to integrate complex scientific findings and legal aspects.
A consultant specialized in that field can summarize them in clear and well-thought conclusions which implies a great sense of analysis, expert judgment, and a real taste for perfectionism. Beyond this important role, BIORIUS’ safety assessors are encouraged to take further responsibilities in other sectors and learn new pieces of regulations, scientific methodologies, and working methods. About the profile

  • Based in Manage (Belgium), Saint-Malo (France), Toulouse (France) or London (Great Britain), the selected candidate would interact remotely with a team of about 50 people. More specifically, the selected candidate would work in the scientific and regulatory department and report to the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Director.
  • The selected candidate would be accountable for collecting safety and regulatory data, evaluating them, and processing them according to well-defined scientific methods and procedures, and using sophisticated IT tools.
  • Beyond the teamwork necessary within the scientific and regulatory department, the selected candidate would build effective relationships with the Account Managers and the commercial department to address clients’ questions and expectations.

About the candidate

  • The successful applicant will hold a master in toxicology, biomedical sciences, pharmacy or any master degrees partly or entirely dedicated to human health (this is a must). All these degrees must be valid in Belgium, France, or in the UK.
  • Two to six years of professional experience in the safety assessment of cosmetics, preferably for a reputed cosmetic brand, is a must.
  • Skills in regulatory affairs are definitely a plus.
  • A collaborative working style, and an ability to build effective working relationships is necessary which includes the ability to convey complex situations in an easily understood manner. The applicant should also have an analytical mind and be very detail-oriented.
  • Good communication skills in English is required. Communication skills in French (or in another language) are a plus.

ACCOUNT MANAGERFull-time, Belgium/France/UK

About the position (Manage – Belgium, St Malo – France, Toulouse – France)

The Account Manager handles a portfolio of customer’s accounts and is responsible for the overall project management hand in hand with the Scientific and Regulatory Departments. Beyond the pure project management aspects of the position, the Account Manager also has to work as an interface between clients and experts and plays an important commercial role with the clients of its portfolio.  

This function requires a very good sense of organization (project management skills), a great flexibility, the ability to handle pressure and the capacity to react promptly when necessary (although nothing can replace proactivity). Therefore, fast learning skills and independence are also strategic skills to hold this position. Simple technical assets are not enough to do this job properly as this position in the company also requires a great sense of empathy, patience, and dedication to the client. 

An Account Manager is before everything a communicator with an excellent command of English and, ideally, of other languages, who never hesitates to call its clients (with whom he/she maintains a personal and friendly relationship)

PRINCIPAL TOXICOLOGIST – Full-time, Belgium/France

About the position (Manage – Belgium, St Malo – France, Toulouse – France)

Safety is key and the Principal Toxicologist carries responsibilities that demand a high level of professional conduct. The Principal Toxicologist supervises the scientific developments of the company and, amongst other tasks, signs the most challenging Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSR Part B), work on toxicology-related issues, and evaluates the safety of ingredients according to robust and modern scientific methodologies. This highly skilled profile has the authority on every safety question and coaches the team of Safety Assessors in partnership with his direct boss, the Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Director.

Safety assessment is a complicated thing that requires a special ability to integrate a lot of complex scientific findings and summarize them in clear and well-thought conclusions. Beyond scientific excellence, doing this with talent requires a great sense of analysis, expert judgment and, a real taste for perfectionism. Not only the Principal Toxicologist is skilled but he/she also has the ability to manage a team and effectively transfer knowledge. Furthermore, he/she has strong visibility outside the company and, therefore, has good communication skills. The position requires to travel from time to time to visit clients or to give lectures.

The International Sales Representative is a multilingual person in charge of the management of sales, commercial negotiations, prospection actions and the follow-up of commercial enquiries. This is a challenging and exciting position in a fast-growing company in direct contact with international prospects of various cultures. The International Sales Representative is responsible for acquiring new customers, by defining their needs and drafting the adequate service offer to meet them.

REGULATORY TOXICOLOGIST (Chemical Legislation department) – Full-time, France/Belgium

About the profile (Preferably Toulouse – France or Manage – Belgium, St Malo – France)

The selected candidate will be part of the Chemical Legislation, scientific and regulatory department, and report to its Director.

Main responsibilities include customer interactions in the area of EU chemical regulations, mainly REACH but also CLP, BPR and detergent regulations. Chemical Legislation services operate on a start-up mode and the candidate will be required to perform varied tasks and need to be highly reactive, versatile, and with excellent adaptation capacity. Sense of initiative and entrepreneurial mindset will be key to succeed in this position where new procedures and services are still to be developed.

Beyond the teamwork necessary within the department, the selected candidate will build effective relationships with the Account Managers and the commercial department to address clients’ questions and expectations.

About the candidate

  • The successful applicant holds a master in toxicology, ecotoxicology, biomedical sciences, pharmacy, or any master’s degree partly or entirely dedicated to human health and/or environmental health. All these degrees must be valid in Belgium, France, or in the UK.
  • Three to six years of professional experience in the field of regulatory toxicology is a must. The successful candidate must have a solid background in ecotoxicology and/or human toxicology and experience in regulatory affairs.
  • The successful candidate will need to be familiar with CLP at minima but practical knowledge in some of the following European regulatory processes REACH registrations, OECD toxicological studies, MSDS, labelling review, biocide registration, or detergence compliance is required. The Strategic Business Developer reports to the CEO and works closely with the other business units and departments. When starting his/her activities, the Strategic Business Developer will have to play a dual role of business leader and of regulatory expert. The Strategic Business Developer will manage one person, a medical device expert already in place.

About the profile

  • The Strategic Business Developer has commercial skills and regulatory expertise. He/she regularly participates in congresses and conferences about the Medical Devices. He/she has a good network in the Medical Devices field and uses it in order to build new commercial opportunities for Biorius.

Administrative Assistant Role & Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Administration Officer:

  • Assist with day-to-day Administrative operations.

The Technical Data Officer assists the Scientific and Regulatory Department in technical and administrative tasks related to its activities. In addition to the administrative aspects, the Technical Data Officer organizes, structures and coordinates the retrieval of information for the Experts, as well as making it available in the Business IT tool. He/she ensures the optimal monitoring of the completeness of expert reports within the given deadlines and guarantees that the quality of the documents is complying with the regulations in force.

The Technical Data Officer is the guarantor of the integrity and relevance of the information in the business database.
